We visited the Deep Space Network in Canberra, Australia in November. The springtime weather was invigorating and slightly unpredictable. From one hour to the next, the winds would bring in clouds or blow them all away. This particular morning remained clear in spite of the threatening black clouds that occasionally appeared. The wind was so strong that the nearby Tidbinbilla Nature Preserve was closed because of the danger of falling branches. The machinery and precision of these enormous antenna were fascinating to see.
